Thank you, this is hugely helpful. I have a horrible tendency of assuming people can read my mind, and it can affect my work in a bad way.
I am working on several long-form poems (although I wouldn't call them epics at this point)

I personally don't get most of your fantasy references in this, had to read it a couple times, but I kind of found you worded it in a 'whimsical' fantasy kind of way that kind of guided it me through it nicely. The language you used is justified as it seemed contextually appropriate
It didn't bother me that It was way over my head for that reason.
I like the fantasy angle , and support every attempt at fantasy poetry!

One question/comment, for someone like me , who isn't to up to date with the fantasy world, it would be great to mix in words or sentences that could help paint the picture for people that may not fully get it. Definitely don't mean to water down your words, but maybe a strategic common word here or there to help us rookies!
ps.
How about a multi part epic !?

Yeah, I wasn't sold on that term, so I'm glad you brought it up. I'll def change it!

I'm glad the end worked well for you (i was nervous it was the weak part)!
thanks so much!

This partly because of all the recent Reddit posts with the T-rex costumes, and partly because my museum has some good Tyrannosaurus displays, but I immediately pictured a flying dinosaur instead of a dragon. I know it can be translated as tyrant lizard, but it did throw me off on the first read.

I'm trying to come up with a different phrasing but I'm hitting a wall there. (Draconis Rex? eh) Though as a side note, I did find these, which are cool https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stymphalian_birds

I also put ! behind each no, which helps me separate the transition into a new thought.

I felt it got stronger towards the end, but I'm also known to like very straightforward poetry

Thanks Brendan! you're always so helpful and encouraging!

While some of the references/phrases went over my head, I just wanted to leave some praise because I really loved some of the imagery you conjured. Especially in the final stanza.

>Feel the shaking scream of that which glides

>Down from heaven like the second coming.

>Hear the heat twisting air in spirals, warping (my favorite line in the whole piece)

>Gusts to signify its coming. That howl of God.

>How it breaks, breaks, breaks the

I liked the meta aspect of the ending, that the power of the dragon broke the very structure trying to encapsulate it. Using form to convey meaning shows talent, which you have :D

My only critique would be to reword: Then came the sounding. It felt a little bit awkward to me. Maybe just: Then came the sound.

Thank you for sharing Gummy, as always it was a treat to read :)
