Brett Hull Player Review
Hey guys this is the first time I've posted a review so bare with me..it may be long.
I'll break down each of his stats and then give an overall summary and at the end I'll link you to a video so you can check out the clips I was able to get with him.
Skating - He's not fast but he's not slow by any means. I tend to like the smaller more agile guys so going into it I was skeptical but was semi impressed with how he actually felt? I mean I wasn't like "Wow! This guys zipping around!", but he did exceed my low expectations when it came to his skating. Not so sure he'd be a truly competitive player in the higher divisions because of this though. He's not amazing at creating his own separation but he still managed to get the job done.
Shot - He's Brett Hull. He's best known for his ridiculous shot both wrister and slapper. In game I wasn't expecting a ton because of my experience with him in Draft Champions but was blown away by this guy's shot. Before using Hull the best shot I've used was hands down Brendan Shanahan, however Hull has taken that top slot for me. With his WW synergy it makes his shot go from unreal to unfair. He was burying shots at a high clip and was a joy to pick corners with.
Hands - You know, I didn't try and dangle a whole lot with him. I didn't use him as that type of player so I can't comment on his dangling ability but because passing falls into this category as well, I'll comment on that instead. I admittedly didn't use him as much of a playmaker but in the times I did, he did not let me down at all. He was able to get passes through that I thought forsure would've been picked up by the defense. I wished I wouldve tried to use him as both a playmaker and a scorer because I feel he could've come away with a lot more points, but nonetheless I feel he is still very much so capable of being that guy that can do both for you.
Checking - I didn't expect much from his checking game given that he's 5'11" and isn't known for that but was again pleasantly surprised by his ability to both knock people off the as well as knock people to the ice. He laid some huge hits and was good at getting back and nudging people off the puck.
Defense - This was honestly one of the most surprising things about Hull for me. He was very good with his stick and even though his discipline is low, in the 10 games I used him he did not take a single penalty.
Overall - Not everything with Hull was amazing if I'm completely honest. His consistency was the biggest knock on him IMO. He managed to score 11 goals in 10 games as well as tally 2 assists but he scored in bunches. He had 3 hattricks so when he was on, he was lights out but if he wasnt, he was MIA. Because of this, I don't think he's necessarily a great player to buy if you're looking for one player to put on your team and take over games, game in and game out. However, if you already have a good team and are in need of a guy who can bury most of his chances, he's definitely someone you should look into. Even though his skating isn't amazing, it's still usable. Overall, I think down the road when the rest of my team is a little more established and I fill the rest of it out, I have no doubt in my mind I'll find a spot for him on my top 2 lines given his two way ability. Lol. Who would've thought Hull would be a good two player? Anyways if you've read on this far and would like to see some of the goals and assists I got with him, feel free to check my video out and please give me a suggestion for a future review.
