Formula for selecting highest value?

Noob question: I need help with writing a formula that changes the text in a cell based on which cells have a greater value in them. So if, for example, i7>i6 it would say one thing, but if I changed the values so that i6>i7 it would say a different thing. Sorry if this is a really basic question, but i've never done anything like this before.
