David Booth Player Review

Other

I've finally had the opportunity to use this Halloween beast and am excited to share my experiences with him.

I initially picked him up because of his speed, and figured if his shot or hands panned out it'd be a bonus. Here's how he did..

10 Games - 18 Goals - 6 Assists - 24 Points - +16

All games were played while in Div 1

Skating - When you see that 97 speed and accel you expect him to feel like a bullet out there and rightfully so. In game this guy is the fastest guy I've had the pleasure to use so far this year. I've used the likes of Matt Duchene and Sullivan and neither one of those two even come close to the way Booth feels in game for me. His accel and speed allow him to get the puck and turn up ice and leave defenders in the dust. It also come in handy in the offensive zone. He creates so much space with his skating ability that at times I almost feel guilty. His agility is a 93 which I tend to like guys with either equal or higher agility than their speed and acceleration but this was not an issue what so ever for him. He was able to turn on a dime no problem.

Shot - His shot was pretty good but not amazing. He scored most of what I'd expect him to with a few surprises sprinkled in. His shot is not on par with the likes of Shanahan or Brett Hull for me but he's close. His accuracy is what let's him down at times but it wasn't a huge issue. I preferred his wrister to his slapper if I'm completely honest. Not to say his slapper was bad, just found myself using the wrister more.

Hands - This guy is silky smooth on the puck! Partially because of his skating but also because of his puck control, balance and strength. He just felt so smooth out there and was so fun to try and dangle the whole team with. He has the ability to beat defenders with both his speed and hands which makes him a dual threat. His breakaways were great as well. Very pleased with his deking. His passing was great too. I used him as a sniper, dangler and playmaker and he excelled at each. He had no problem squeezing pucks through to linemates Stastny and Kessel allowing him to bag 6 assists.

Checking - Not a ton to say here. He can definitely lay some big hits but used him more for his speed to close gaps and nudge players off the puck. I didn't try to take too many runs at my opponent with him.

Defense - This is his second best ability in game behind his skating. His ability both on the forecheck and backcheck are matched by no one and made him what I can only assume a real annoyance to my opponents. I mean what's more annoying that a guy blowing past your defense all game and getting grade A chances while also stealing the puck from you constantly? I stick lifted and poked a lot with this guy and didn't take a single penalty through the 10 games and he forced a LOT of turnovers. Absolutely awesome to use.

Overall this guy is hands down the best player I've ever used. Everything about him was awesome. I can't think of anything bad about him and because of that I gotta say he's a must have for those of you lucky ones who can afford to put him in your teams. I for one am sad to say i had to sell him to fund my next review but know that if or when I get enough coins, he'll find a permanent spot on my top line. When I reviewed Brett Hull I said he would be a better buy for those of you who already have good teams and just need a sniper. Booth on the other hand can slot into any kind of team and be a difference maker. Whether you have a 50k team around him or million coin team around him, I'm confident he'll be a difference maker.

If you've read this far and would like to see some clips that I managed to get with him please follow the link. Thanks for reading this review and have a good one!
