This is a free verse poem. I forwent conventional punctuation to go off in search of a deeper truth. Here we go:
What Are You Not Doing?
I'm not making a flat chested mannequin love me for what's on the inside, not these masks that society makes us wear for these Eyes Wide Shut parties that you told you're Uncle David that you didn't want to go to because you knew you wouldn't know anyone but you were too busy getting passed around like a popular dish at a family style dinner until it gets to the last person who's just scraping the edges of the dish trying to get any little scrap that they can not thinking about for a second about what the dish wants or how the dish feels only interested in fulfilling their most basic human desires and you're left at the end of the table wondering who picked this table cloth and how did they not notice that it doesn't go with the napkins until the unwanted goos that you're covered in start to dry and form a shell around you the very shell this flat chested mannequin is trying to break through.
