Infidelity
Two fingers pressed firmly
On palm to relieve,
Intangible pressures
Which dare to deceive
And tempt away, swiftly
With mirthless derision,
The songs of the Siren,
Which breathe indecision.
A raucous, relentless-
-ly harrowing cry
As calm as high treason,
As loud as a sigh,
With harboured resentment,
For a love now long lost,
He would prove himself wrong,
Whatever the cost.
