Hoh boy...

Okay, let's start with this:

#the comedy

I see from your comments that you wrote this in an attempt at comedic poetry. Now, I need to place a caveat here, because not all people's sense of humor is the same, and what might be funny to one person might not be funny to the next.

But, having said that, it's difficult to see what's intended to be humorous here. A great mind once said that "comedy is tragedy plus time". And certainly there are tragic *elements* here. A woman's house is burned to the ground in an act of ... I'm going to go with wartime arson (?), there's a lion attack somehow involved, and for some reason also an attempted rape. The *time* element is a little finicky here. We're never really given a clear notion of *when* this is supposed to be occurring. There's a vague sort of gesture in the direction of Victorian language, but it is not consistent, and probably 50% of the text feels very twentieth-century in terms of grammar and diction. And as

no need to apologize. the story was meant to be somewhat of a comedy, though I'm bad at humor. I wanted the poem to have an element of being random, at a humorous degree.

thank you for complimenting my storytelling skills. you were spot on. I read the bible a lot, and I adopt my storytelling skills from it. the bible's quite cryptic sometimes, and my work somewhat reflects that.

my poem was not intended to be about rape, but I couldn't argue about it because she's a mod. I didn't want to see this webpage anymore, so I personally removed my poem. this is before I knew about the "Hide" feature, else I would've just hid my poem. I regret deleting it, because most people here are probably judging me because of that action.

but thank you brenden_norwood for your initial comment. it proves to me that most average sensible readers have a good grasp of my work and can professionally comment on a poem without bringing too much of their personal lives into critiques.

This story almost seems biblical in nature, like some kind of religious allegory.

That being said, I'm not sure what it's trying to communicate. You're a great storyteller (difficult to do in a poem!) but I still think this needs a central message. It seems, as its currently written, an account of fictional events. It's difficult for me to give feedback, since I'm not sure of the purpose or the exigence of the piece. I'm sorry, I wish I could be more helpful :\

edit: Skimming over it, I totally overlooked the rape elements. Thank you u/ActualNameIsLana for pointing that out, I'm sorry that you have to see such a disgusting atrocity so tamely presented in some of the poems on here :(
