Has anyone here IRL tried to make a move similar to the farmer/character?

Help

Lately I've done a lot of thinking about what it would be like to move to a small town, start a small business of things I made myself, and make a small living off that.

After picking this game up again, that feeling has only gotten stronger, and now I spend hours each day just trying to find out what I can do to make this kind of dream a reality. Today, I got to wondering if anyone else had this kind of reaction as well and maybe already made the move?

Maybe you had your own personal "Joja" you needed to escape, or something was missing in your life and you thought a move would be the right decision. Whatever it was, please share your stories! I bet lots of people on this subreddit would love to hear about it!

Not quite what you're thinking of but I was a child of neglect, so I'm in the middle of saving up to make my move away.

I'm thinking a nice little village in the countryside, not TOO far from the city.

Much like our farmer, I'll be moving with no friends, not many possessions and not a great amount of money. But we all have our own Jojas, and we all deserve freedom :D

I hope you find a way to make your dreams a reality!

But we all have our own Jojas.

I really like that line. It's meaningful.

I live in a small town after living in a city. I enjoy it and my apple trees :) but there are downsides like having to drive an hour to work and if you're not in "the know" you can easily miss events because they are spread more word of mouth than by posters or advertisements.

Being a farmer isn't really practical as far as making money but I do think people should spend more time making things I think it's good for people to see what they can create and do. I personally love crochet and have considered making baby hats for hospitals

Yeah, I hear farming isn't that practical, but there are still things people can make, like today I saw a video on a lady who makes soaps and opened a soap shop in her town, grows and makes all her own ingredients too! Crazy, huh?

I like the hats idea, I bet the hospitals would like the idea too.

When I think how fun the game is and think how it will be to experience something like this in real life, I know I've played too much. I try not to imagine what I see on the game will happen in real life because it's a lot difficult to do something out here than in the game.

If I ever want to experience farming then I can travel to my family's home country and work at their farm a bit. It's something about their little farm that calms me down and enjoy what I see.

I have these friends who both had well paying jobs and one day bought a bus, converted it into an RV, sold what couldn't fit in the bus and drove around the US for a year. They then moved to a small town and he's a fix-it guy and she teaches theater... living the dream...

You mean giving a girl a salad twice a week, then running away without saying a word? ...Maybe

I've wanted to move out into the country some day and have my own little farm and be self sufficient for the longest time. Playing SDV has only made me want to more. I'm gonna have to wait a while before that happens since I'm only at the ripe old age of 14 :P

I literally chose my college because it was a small town in the middle of bum fuck no where. I wanted to get out of the big city and just live, just be free and have the open and free air. My only problem so far is that I keep missing my old friends back home and with the most recent USA election I might be needed back home more than ever right now...

Not me personally. But there was a post a long time ago. It was about some country or city offering people an opportunity to live off the land, and after a specific time you get to keep said land. I'm not sure of how true the site was but I'll try to find it.

Edit: that should be the link. On mobile.

I've been wanting to move to a small town for a long time since the one I live in currently is big but pretty underdeveloped so nothing is really convenient and there isn't much to do to warrant staying anyways.

This. Seriously. Most of my life I've lived in suburbia, and on a few occasions, a city. I've never been happy in those situations.. mostly because I live with agoraphobia and some other 'mental illnesses' that cause my extreme aversion to humans (including misanthropy).. but my love for animals never wavers.

I always wanted to open up an animal sanctuary on a few acres of country/forest land. It will probably never happen though, I can't work, so the money I get for disability is a minute amount.. but I keep as many cats/dogs as I legally can care for, all rescues to some extent. I'll live my dream vicariously through SDV. Good luck to you with your dream though! :)

Grew up in the country, couldn't wait to move somewhere a little more urban. Left when I was 19 and never went back. There are some things that I miss ( The land, being able to keep goats/chickens, the clean air and the absolutely stunning view of the stars you get each night), but I can't fathom ever moving back. Living in the city is so much more convenient, and if I want to I can always go camping for a bit or visit my family members who still live out there.

I guess this goes to show, the grass is always greener!
