I really like the tone that this creates. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's very...hazy? I think your use of stanzas was very helpful, that last line packed a huge punch that made the rest of the poem make sense.

I especially like the lines, "and the end of a cigarette glows through gray: a lighthouse." I think poetry can help people look at things in a new way, and I never thought of a cigarette in this way until I read this.

I think there is some very strong language and imagery here, but the second that first person speaker comes in, I'm disenchanted. I genuinely think the poem could end on the second to last stanza. I am also curious/have a challenge for you: use vernacularism, phrases you would say to another. I want to read a Norwoodian poem written as though it were a Norwoodian conversation, and not as though it were harbored more directly in artistry. I think you do what you do very well, but for that I speaker, I think expanding language backward into simplicity would do good if you're going to write in the first person. I think you're actually writing very well here in the first person but it really grates against the rest of the poem. I would like to read an entire piece with an omniscient narrator and an entirely different piece in the first person. Again, though, some lovely language and sounds.

coalesce into coals

for instance.

Thanks, that helps a lot

Did you mean equinox? It seems like you're using that word somewhat neologistically.

I was thinking that midnight (or at least early morning) is the middle of the day and the night, so I felt like it fit

Edit: Did you like it, at least?
