Rob Blake Review

Other

Hey everyone, as my plan of doing some reviews of players on my team, I'll be reviewing Rob Blake today. I'll be be basing my review on the five stats on the card and I'll be sharing his stats through 60 games on my team. Keep in mind that I have the following synergies active on my team: WW, OJ, NP, RF, DR, HH, IS, 1T, CG, TT, SB, T.

Skating: 9/10: Blake is a surprisingly good skater, especially when he is fresh off the bench. He can catch up to just about any player who isn't named Sullivan or Amonte, even if they are on a breakaway. I've also had multiple times skating end-to-end so smoothly, he must have thought he was Bobby Orr. His agility is quite good for his size and the best part about his skating is he manages to stay on his feet through just about every bit of contact, and usually keeps the puck too.

Shooting: 9.5/10: The only reason that this isn't a 10 is that Blake's wrist shot leaves a bit to be desired. However, he definitely makes up for that with his slapshot and one timer. My favourite play is passing it back to Doug Wilson who passes it over to Blake for the one timer, and its almost automatic. I've also had multiple times where Blake has shot it, and although the goalie got a piece of it, it still managed to find its way to the back of the net.

Hands: 9/10: Blake's passing is outstanding. One of the first things I noticed when I got him was his breakout passes. They're outstanding and they help not get stuck in my zone. His deking is good enough, again like I mentioned in my last review I don't deke much in general so I don't have much of an opinion on how good his dekes are.

Checking: 11/10: Blake is an absolute beast physically. He is probably the best and most consistent checker I've ever used. He can lay anyone out, and the best part about his hitting, he can knock just about anyone off the puck from the side or from behind. This helps get possession back when the opponent is trying to get a cycle going.

Defense: 10/10: Blake is always in position, whether it's blocking a shot or intercepting a crosscreaser. His stick work is elite and he rarely takes any penalties other than those that are seemingly for hitting too hard.

Overall his stats through 60 games: 16 goals, 28 assists, 44 points, +39 and 21 PIM

Blake has been my favourite defenseman I've used this year and for the price of 200-250k, I would highly recommend him for anyone looking for a good LD. Let me know who you guys would like to see a review for.
