[Online][Community][DFRPG][All Time Zones] Persistent Chat Game: Babylon, DC (New players welcome!)
Hey folks! I'm one of the Admins over at Dominium Fuego (ChrisJ), a sandbox-style persistent chat game set in a "Dresdenless Dresdenverse." The current game we’re hosting is set in Washington, D.C. named “Babylon, D.C.: Justitia Ominous.”
We are getting into the meat of Season 2 now; after Season 1 shenanigans, the characters are beginning to realize maybe all these separate issues popping up around the city might be connected.
If you're new to DFRPG, no problem! Many of our players came in with very little knowledge of the rules, and we're happy to help people learn the system. This is a game set in the universe of the Dresden Files, a series by Jim Butcher and adapted to tabletop playing by Evil Hat. You will need at least Your Story to play this game.
There's no limit to the number of players who can join - the more, the merrier!
What is a persistent chat game?
Let’s start with what a persistent chat game is. "Chat," in our world, just means typing--we don't use voice. “Persistent” means that the game is always on. You can log into the chat at any time, on any day, and interact with any of the other player characters who are online at the time. You can even run small scenes as a player, acting as a kind of temporary GM to create stories with any players who want to participate. There are also official GMs who run scheduled scenes at least once a week, including major story arcs that can have a big impact on the setting.
What do you mean by "a Dresdenless Dresdenverse"?
Babylon, D.C. is set in a world where the events and characters in the Dresden novels never happened. There is no Harry Dresden. None of the major supernatural factions are currently in a state of open war with each other. The changes in Changes didn't take place in our world. There is, however, still a Paranet; its founders are anonymous.
Refresh level? House rules? Setting information?
Our current new-PC starting power level is Submerged: 11 refresh, 40 skill points, Superb skill cap. We're pretty flexible when it comes to character builds and we are always happy to help work on concepts. The main thing to understand is Babylon is intended to be a gritty, more down-to-earth game that falls more or less in line with the feel of the books, so keep that in mind when working up character ideas. Stuff like "Jedi" or "a costumed vigilante who can fly, is super strong and tough, and shoots lasers from their eyes" are probably not good fits (when framed that way; grit has a lot to do with how a PC is framed and played, too). For all the house rules and setting information, click here. Currently we're only restricting any more Warden PCs from being created.

What do I do after joining?
Introduce yourself on Discord! Once you’ve done that, the next step is to create your character.
Try jumping into the lobby and seeing who’s around by clicking “Login OOC” from the home page. Start looking around our Wiki to familiarize yourself with the setting. You can find the characters currently being played on the cast page.
If you have an idea for a PC you can start making them by going to your Characters page and clicking the “Create Character” link on the right side of the page. Don’t forget to save the sheet occasionally!
You can also feel free to message me here or post in this thread with any questions. Happy roleplaying!
