Review

Skating: 8/10

When it comes to skating Skinner has some pretty good speed, but I would say he skates under his 91 skating rating. I often find Skinner to out skate most of the opposing players but only at top speed and full endurance. When at full endurance he has really great acceleration and speed, but when endurance was low I found his speed really took a hit and he was being out skated a lot of the time. Although his acceleration is 93 rated his endurance is 86 which is the cause of this. When it comes to his agility on the ice, I found this to be really great. He is great at making precise turns and avoiding hits from opposing players. Overall, I would say that Skinner is pretty quick when he has full endurance, and his agility is great regardless, but his speed takes quite the hit when his endurance runs low.

Shot: 9.1/10

Here it is, my favourite part about this card, his shot! Skinner is one of the best snipers on my team, and it shows from the amount of goals he has scored. His best attribute as a player is definitely his slick wrist shot. The accuracy and strength of his wrist shot are well above their ratings, and account for so many of my goals. Going top cheese on the goalie is easy for Skinner. His slap shot, though not being as lethal as his wrist shot, is also very great for me. I would say when it comes to his slapshot it is more accurate than powerful, so a slapshot from the point may not be the best for him, but a slapshot between the dots is always very accurate. Overall, I think that this is the area that Skinner excels in the most, especially when it comes to his wrist shot. The guy is a pure goal scorer.

Physicality: 5/10

There isn't a whole lot going on when it comes to Skinner's physicality. At 5'11 and 200lbs Skinner is rarely the biggest guy on the ice. The only success I have had with his physicality is if I lined up the hit from a good ways down the ice, which would happen very rarely as he was often playing pure offense for me. Bumping players off the puck also wasn't very good, he could do it the rare time but often the player would shrug him off or move around him. Overall, there isn't much going on with Skinner's Physicality.

Team Play: 7.5/10

When it comes to this category Skinner was just decent. First, passing wasn't anything spectacular for him, he would connect the pass 60 percent of the time. What I will say was the highlight of this category was his offensive and defensive positioning. Skinner has great offensive positioning, he was almost always ready to recieve the puck or release the cross crease one timer, his defensive positioning was also pretty decent. As a winger I'd have him pressuring the defense at the blue line quite often and he was quite good at blocking shots and intercepting the puck. He was also quite good at recieving and being ready for breakout passes along the boards that came from the defensemen, which was good because it sometimes led to breakaway goals. Overall, Skinner has some decent team play but nothing to write home about.

Defense: 8/10

This is the area in Skinner's game that I was pleasantly surprised with. Although Skinner lacks physicality, he makes up for it with both his defensive positioning and his ability to poke check and stick lift the puck away from the opponents. Skinner's poke check is what surprised me most, he had a very accurate poke check, and I cannot even remember a time where it lead to a tripping penalty. Don't get me wrong it's not the greatest poke check in the game, but it gets the job done. His defensive positioning was also quite good which I wrote about above. Overall, though he lacks the physical nature of the game, he makes up for it with his positioning and good poke check abilities.

Conclusion

MOV Skinner is a pure goal scorer, if you are looking to pick up a player with a great shot and a decent potential for an upgrade I would recommend him to you!
