"Children of Reveros," a hololog by Varimalis, Reveran Scholar
I have decided to write this account of Reveros after explaining it to many who would ask; the fate of the Reveran homeworld is a curiosity to most.
Perhaps it is best we start at the beginning, no?
Reveros was named after the Carbon Star that our planet orbitted, meaning our homeworld and our star shared the same name. However, while the official names were the same, our star had a different name; "The Watcher."
The Saremans, the first great Reveran empire, saw our star as an all-seeing deity for a large amount of time. This was, of course, in the time before we turned our eyes to the righteousness of the Immortal.
While our world largely consisted of volcanic swamps and ash deserts, there were some massive forests of mushrooms spread throughout the lands, often preserved as a monument to survival. If these could survive the harsh ashlands, why couldn't we?
The oceans of Reveros were great, wide spans of orange-red water. They held host to many large whales and small krill; it was a serene environment compared to the harsh ashlands.
Some creatures would learn to survive alongside us; the H'shyyd, most notably. Great, cricket-like beasts capable of hopping over the largest dunes. Often traveling in packs, these beasts were capable of dealing serious damage with their corrosive saliva. They are a staple of Reveran society, sometimes kept as pets or as a steed for those wishing to navigate the wastes.
Reveros' land was largely centered on one continentc; Sehren. Surrounded by mountains alongside most of the western coasts, many cities flourished alongside the eastern coasts- Veisan City, Gesduna, and most other great cities found their place in history here.
Elysium, the great temple city, would not follow the same fate. It was built by Dræch on the Ashflow River, an 16 mile river of flame that controlled the flow of lava out of the Ashflow; a city, a temple, a dam. Elysium would've stood the test of time, had it not been overrun and abandoned.
In the times when the Epilogus came, the coasts were the first to fall- originating in Gesduna, the infected worked their way up the coasts. This would end up forcing most survivors to flee into Elysium, where salvation awaited.
The Cryoship, a colossal work that took 8 years of hardwork, stood in Elysium. Ordered by Urzen, it served as a show of survival to the Epilogus' rampage across the planet.
The paladins stayed behind, defending the Cryoship at all costs. Unfortunately, the Epilogus had arrived before they could fully load the ship- many died in defense of those on the ship, sacrificing their lives so we could live ours.
These brave warriors are remembered at the Tomb of Defiance, an homage to the nameless dead. They stood in defiance of death; and so, we remember them. For if you whisper the names of the fallen, are they truly dead?
