Queensguard and Scribe

JULY 14TH, 4200 3:54AM QURUNESI SHIP "H.M.S. BELLICOSE" URANIAN SPACE, SOL SYSTEM

Walks-With-Wolves stomped her many legs on the ground as she walked through the purple hall. While there was little light outside the ship, there were fake windows with blue lights emanating from behind them; the purple window obviously changing the shade to a nice, serene lavendar. She'd walk to the door of Seen-Many-Worlds, whom opened the door for her rather quickly.

"Ah... You have come to me for questions? What is it that this scribe may do for you?" asked Seen-Many-Worlds, blinking his many eyes at Walks-With-Wolves.

"I want a recap on everything your agents have gathered on Grimseer. No "laters" this time." she says somewhat angrily, yet keeping her stoic tone.

The scribe clicks his amethyst-tipped staff on the ground, "Oh? Is that a threat, Queensguard? Or an order?" he'd playfully ask, his face showing a false concern.

Walks-With-Wolves would grimace, her face lacking any amusement. Seen-Many-Worlds laughs a guttural, clicking laugh.

"Seen-Many-Worlds, how are we to annihilate this threat if you refuse to cooperate with me?" asks Walks-With-Wolves, her fists balled up, claws sharpened.

The old scribe speaks up, "So, you still believe you can kill him." he stops inspecting his staff to look up at her, his smaller height making him look rather puny. Male Kera'Shae were naturally smaller than the females, being in the 4-5 foot range; whereas females usually reached the 5-7 range.

"If it can live, it can die." she'd retort, showing her claws with a look of pride.

"And yet, you refuse to realize we have already killed Grimseer before." he'd say off-handedly, looking around the room.

She'd instantly look back at him, turning from her claws. She'd narrow her many eyes, "What do you mean, scribe?"

"I mean he has already died. Grimseer has enough cybernetics in him to a point he can be rebuilt. We may have killed him, but we did not kill his following. He may not be able to rebuild himself, but they can." he says, clicking his staff twice, causing it to spew out a holographic image.

The image shows a dark room; if one looked into it carefully, they could see a decaying room filled with computers, scrap, and bloodstains. The blood would be a sickly green; Kera'Shae blood.

"What is this?" asks Walks-With-Wolves, looking into the image.

"An image taken from a camera 2 weeks after Grimseer first died on Orion Station D-2, an old Jovian Research facility. Human in origin, obviously... Regardless." he moves his hand into the image, zooming in.

A helmet becomes visible in the darkness; a piece of steel that seemed to emulate a Kera'Shae head well.

"What am I looking at here, exactly?" asked the impatient Queensguard.

"You would be looking at the head of Grimseer. Underwhelming, perhaps, but this is old footage." he'd say. He touched the image, prompting a menu.

[The head stayed still in the darkness, lying atop a pile of rubble and scrap.]

[The video is silent, save for clanking footsteps that get progressively louder.]

[The lights flicker on and off for a moment, struggling to garner enough power to properly light up. A heavily modified Chuvelki tribal walks into the room, with shoulders and arms of steel, with a purple upside-down triangle painted onto his back.]

[The Chuvelki grabs the head, his mandibles clicking, "The harder they try, the harder they fall."]

[He looks up at the camera, his left eyes flashing momentarily, as the camera's footage cuts out.]

Seen-Many-Worlds clicks his staff again, shutting off the projection. He turns back to Walks-With-Wolves slowly.

"Who was that?" asks Walks-With-Wolves with a somewhat puzzled look.

"We do not know. We are working on identifying him as we speak..." he trails off, attempting to think.

"Grimseer is a new name, correct? What was his old name, again?" asks Walks-With-Wolves.

"Knepsilis. A name taken from old Vek'Krey mythos- fits his ideology of exaltation rather well." says Seen-Many-Worlds calmly, "I am sorry, but that is all I have. Perhaps you should come back later, yes?" he says, motioning towards the door.

Walks-With-Wolves, thinking, exits the room, shutting the door behind her. While she walked, one question bothered her: How can you stop that which cannot die? Imprisonment, sure, but for one who can't die, time in prison is merely a slight inconvenience.

It had grown late; if she were to continue the hunt at peak efficiency, she should sleep. She turned, walking to her room. She opened the door, going to lie on the piles of cushions supplied by the wretches.

The question still echoed: how does one kill the unkillable? Perhaps she would discover the answer another day...
