92 Crosby & 92 Ovi review / comparison

watup boi bois. I decided to do a mildly interesting review where I take Sidney Crosby against the TOTW Alexander Ovechkin. I'll review both separately and then draw the conclusion at the end, enjoy.

SKATING 9/10

Crosby is an awesome skater. He's quick and chippy. Kinda like Kane but just a little less agile i'd say. Second most agile base card that I've tried. He won't screw up a breakaway and he makes it look easy. Not a full 10 because he's no Bure at speed.

SHOOTING 9.9/10

Obviously with 1T and B AND OJ activated, pretty much any guy is an elite shooter on my team, so Crosby doesn't really stand out in the whole picking corners etc, which he does remarkably well. His thing is that he's super consistent. He always gets the puck in from specific places on the ice and being tired doesn't really hold him back. His wrist shot is rated higher than his slapper but it'd beg to differ with that. Get him anywhere on the right circle in the o-zone and slap that baby short-side and you have yourself a goal. Nobody does it at a rate that crosby does for me. Not a whole ten because his wrister seems a bit weak (compared to the slapshot).

HANDS 10/10

Man this guys is getting some good grades. If I had to choose one guy to get a breakaway with everytime it'd be him. He doesn't screw up dekes, that just doesn't happen to Crosby, no matter the speed. If he somehow magically loses the puck he'll get it right back and keep going. 96 hands is lying tho... He's a straight up 99.

PHYSICAL 7/10

Nothing to see here really. An average sized guy who can check if he's got the momentum behind him but will also get rocked if you don't keep your head up. Loses the puck when nudged a little but really good at regaining it.

DEFENSE 10/10

So this was my first year using Crosby ever (been playing since '15, might've used him in 03-14 in another gamemode than HUT) and when I think of him I see a consistent player who's really strong in every aspect of his game like a franchise player should be. Even in defense. Well he wasn't strong at defense, he was a MONSTER. The turn-over king. Stick checking, shot blocking mad-man. Absolutely no flaw in his defensive play except his mediocre faceoffs stats but I've still managed to win a lot of faceoffs with him. This guy is a MUST HAVE CENTER.

SKATING 8/10

On paper, Ovi should be faster than Sid with a 1 point advantage on Speed, but that's pretty much lies. He's a slightly above average skater with good balance. Comparable to 90 Voracek. Still manages to get a fair amount of breakaways so he won't disappoint but could be better.

SHOOTING 10/10

Man. What can I say. Push your right stick up and you're up a goal. Unreal. Best shot I've used.

HANDS 9/10

He holds the puck to himself really well and doesn't fumble up dekes. Kinda slow tho, might cost you a few breakaway goals.

PHYSICAL 9.5/10

This guy lays body. He's absolutely fantastic on the point on the powerplay with his shot and his ability to crush humans into atoms. Doesn't really need speed to knock someone off the puck but be careful his discipline is kinda low so you might be getting a few majors.

DEFENSE 7.5/10

He's average at this just like Sid is physically. Won't amaze you won't let you down. Will get a few penalties if you let the AI do the work. He's a sniper after all.

##Conclusion

These are two amazing cards and you'll be lucky to play with either one really. I got my Ovi out of a title pack and Sid is just someone who I've wanted to always try but haven't had the funds. If I were to choose a winner and who I'd rather have on my team if i'd have to choose one it'd be Sidney Crosby. I know he's a bit of a cry-baby but the man know how to play hockey, is so consistent and oh man those hands. Ovi is no doubt the best goal-scorer in the game, he took me a while to get the hang of but now he scores anywhere from 1 to 3 goals a game and it's fantastic, but I enjoy playing with Sid everytime he has the puck. It's kinda like the Laine vs Matthews thing; two guys with two way different approaches to the game but people have a preference.^Laine4Calder
