Mounting a light on the FM-AK47-11

Hey guys! I received my FM-AK47 on Monday and I love the stock handguards that are on it and would like to keep them for the foreseeable future.

So my question is, what is the best way to mount a light that will allow me to keep the stock handguards? I know that RS Regulate makes their BM-series barrel clamp accessory mount, but I'm not sure if the Vepr-12 model will fit the FM's barrel diameter. Any suggestions are GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks guys!

UPDATE: I emailed RS Regulate and their president Scot Hoskisson responded saying that he doesn't believe any of their BM accessory mounts will work on a Vepr that isn't a shotgun. After doing some looking around, it seems that the Vepr barrels are .75 inches in diameter, and none of their mounts are close enough to that. I think I'm going to modify the lower handguard to accept this light mount from Echo93: http://www.echo93.com/_p/prd1/4443154061/product/mk65-light-mount

This is stupid, but I duct taped my thrunite tn12 flashlight to my sam7 handguards for a 2gun night match. Ended up winning the match. Take it for what it's worth, but it works in a pinch.

Here is some detailed info from their outdated site about their accessory mounts. Looks like the BM-12 might work for you (~.86" diameter) but be sure to measure your barrel diameter. The 12G might be too large.
Edit: Also, a word of warning about accessories that clamp onto your barrel: They have the potential to affect accuracy since they throw off barrel harmonics.

Ya I dont recommend mounting a rail to the barrel. I would get some sort of rail system that replaces the handguards.

I have a Midwest Industries rail on my NPAP and while it works, I wanted to avoid putting something so bulky on my new rifle. I was hoping someone else had found a good solution for light mounting with standard handguards. Oh well. I'll see about maybe doing slight modification to the stock ones to get a small rail section on.

One of these wouldn't weight much more than the stock handguard: http://jesticearms.com/AK-47-AK-74/Russian-Molot-VEPR-12-Rail-Lower-Hanguard

I really appreciate your link! I searched for a while last night looking for different options but didn't come across this, for some reason. I'll have to consider this one, thanks!

Does Ultimak make a gas tube for the Vepr?

They have this: http://ultimak.com/M3-b.htm

It seems to be designed for the older Robinson Arms models, but might work, as long as it's a regular front sight block version of the Vepr. If I were buying it, I'd contact them first to verify if it's GtG with the newer Veprs or the FIMArsenal's lower hand guard.

I have the BM mount on my 104FR and didnt notice any loss in accuracy. After all, the barrel is restrained by the handguard retainer close to the same spot where the mount goes. That's just my experience and bro science trying to explain it. YMMV.

Get a scope rail that has a little picatinny outrigger on the left.

Ultimak with a thorn-tail (or similar mount)?
