TOTW 84 Wiercioch Review

I needed the B^^^2, I like his size (6'5 206lbs), and his price so I picked him up for 17k.

Skating: 8.5/10 - This I feel is kind of a lie because I have TW activated on my team, as it bumps his agility 85 to 88, and speed 88 to 91. Don't get me wrong he doesn't feel clunky like Zde, but if a guy with true speed were to get around him, he'd probably get burned. Another one of his downfalls is that he doesn't transition from backward skating to forward back checking. This is nice why it's nice to pair him with a player with a decent amount of acceleration, and speed.

Shooting: 6/10 - I rush with forwards, and after the initial rush, cycle low to high. I take a fair amout of point shots, and lot from the side points, never usually the middle. He's not the most accurate shot, I would say 50/50. I don't think I've ever hit a pipe with him. He either misses the net completely, or hit's the goalie. sometimes the goalie is out of place, and he'll put one right into the mesh. He does get his tips in front of the net on occasion.

Hands: NA/10 - I don't really do much with him as far as hands. I just use him to shoot the puck, and play defense.

Checking: 7/10 - His size is deceiving here. I think it's because he's tall, but has no real size between him. He can step up, and make a hit, but he doesn't really lay people out. Not like Weber, Byfuglien, or Suter. He would definitely slow people down, which is why he doesn't lose all of his points here.

Defense 9/10 - Overall quite good. Again, with the size he's quite a wall to get in front of people and stop the people from trying to come from the corner, and skate out in front of the net. He's not impervious though, and this shows from his -5. Also, I've been in quite the slump lately, so this could also be part of that.

Awareness: 8/10 - Part of this is to blame on me. I play an aggressive defense, and play high TOA games. He's in position 9/10 times when there's a one time pass sent his way. On defense though, he's pretty much solidly in position, and doesn't get caught out of position too much He's got 10 PIM because sometimes ya just gotta take the penalty.

Overall: He's a big point-man, he's a TWD, but his card feels a lot more like an OFD. He's an 84, but with a strong point partner, he's decently averaged out. Most of the time I forget he's rated as low as he is. He does however have a few redeeming qualities that make his OVR somewhat deceiving. I picked him up for his synergies, but what pretty pleased with what he can do.
