An Unsung Hero - An Adam Foote Review

Just killing some time while I grind some DC this morning. I wanted to give a review about a player I don't hear much about on the sub as I think he a little bit overshadowed. On my team he plays a HUGE shutdown role though and is absolutely clutch in times where I need someone to bail me out with a pokecheck, bodycheck or defensive play.

Synergies: 21T 2HH

Stats: 67 Games - 8 Goals and 38 Assists in D4 and D3.

Defensive partner - Hero Redden

Skating - 8/10

Foote isn't going to blow by anyone by any means. That is simply not his game. For anyone who was around for the peak years of the Avalanche you would remember that Foote was more of a defensive dman. I have him paired with Hero Redden which counteracts his lack of speed quite well. One thing I love about Foote is that although he is not the fastest skater, he has amazing positioning which always puts him in right place for a pokecheck or bodycheck.

Shooting - 9/10

Foote has a BOMB and with that 1T synergy activated it only gets better. His accuracy leaves a bit to be desired but when he gets a good hold of the shot it is going in, no doubt. I found that his slapper was more useful for me than his wrister and that he was absolutely perfect for my cycling style. If he hits the net and it doesn't go in, there is usually a rebound or deflection taking place.

Hands - 9/10

Foote is your guy if you want someone who can complete excellent breakouts out of your end. His passes connect tape to tape and I find him getting a ton of assists on my team. He holds the puck strong and doesn't get knocked off of it easily. This makes him great in the cycle game to be able to get the puck down low and create a scoring opportunity. I was pleasantly surprised by this part of his game.

Checking - 10/10

With HH activated, this guy is a semi truck on the ice. I find between him and MS Lindros, I am constantly out hitting my opponents. If Foote lines up a guy perfectly going over the blow line that guy is airborne. That is how hard he hits.

Defense - 9/10

Again, This is Footes bread and butter. Call me absolutely insane but I have tried Murphy, Blake, Wilson and Redden and none of them have worked as well defensively for me as Foote has. His work in his own end has saved me many games. Whether it's a poke check on a breakaway, taking the body along the boards or just intercepting those cross crease passes. He is always in the right place at the right time.

Summary -9/10

I strongly advice that you at least give this guy a chance. He has been incredible for me. Having him paired with someone faster is a necessity I think but if you get him paired with the right guy then he is money. I can't imagine Foote leaving my team through the year.

Hope this was a helpful review!
