Congrats, I commuted every single day too, except the Christmas Party where I left my bike at the office overnight. Just hit 5000 miles. Feels good :)

Wise choice, keep up the good work :-)

The rear wheel locked up on the white bike on the way to work, so I had to walk a few km. Sadly the black bike was stolen from me in september.

I've been ill since mid november, but had two snow commuting seasons.

I worked at six different locations this year, all between 8 and 13km. Most often I ride 8km (roughly 75%)

Where did you get the trailer? I've been looking for a trailer in Denmark, too, but the ones I've found online are usually small and can't take much load :/

This is the one and only christania trailer. I bought it used for very very cheap.

What about this one: http://www.dba.dk/cykelanhaenger--cykeltraile/id-1029837076/ it looks like a Christania, but I think it would've been mentioned if it was. 500 is cheap i think, i paid 350kr.

Ah, great thank you. I'm in the other end of the country, but good idea with dba! I'll check out what's for sale nearby

There's a lot of shit, but good ones in between. I considered buying a kids one, and ripping out the seats. But I don't think it can carry a lot. Mine is heavy though.

I believe they're 3500 from new! That's a lot!

Holy shit that's a lot!! I checked what's available nearby and remembered something: it's all kids trailers! I guess I could try rip out the seats, especially on a cheaper used trailer.

Where did you get those stickers on the trailer?

3
TopformsOP•

Honestly I didn't buy them. I bought it used with the stickers on. The stickers are names of islands in Denmark.

Ærø, Bornholm and Langeland. I guess the owners bought them while bike touring around Denmark.

I've ridden bornholm and through langeland (it means long country, it is very narrow lol) but the Ærø is a bit cheating. I hope i don't get called out as an imposter

thornstarr•

They look cool. I can't say I've cycled to any of them (I'm unfortunately in the UK) but bike touring Denmark is one for the old bucket list!

2
TopformsOP•

I'd recommend Bornholm, a lot of tourists (and danes) go there for bike touring. You should be able to rent a bike there.

Some guy posted a lot of videos in the r/denmark subreddit https://www.reddit.com/user/TripsWithKids/submitted/ (I only watched small bits)

Brilliant, I'll have to check it out! Cheers!

Everton?

Danish brand. I believe it was good, and then bought by a big box store (think what happened to Schwinn)

Gg. I tried but there were a few days where either weather was bad, my bike was messed up (can't wait to replace that poor old thing.) or my knee was giving me trouble that I couldn't ride.

Harden up :-)

my bike was messed up (can't wait to replace that poor old thing.)

Keep it around, when your main bike messes up you can still get to work. Look at me.

or my knee was giving me trouble that I couldn't ride.

Yeah, messed me up a bit last year. It's annoying

I plan to keep my old bike around, just won't ride it much after I get a new one. It's older than me and has lots of issues. The weather was usually 1.5-2 feet of snow that my bike couldn't make it through.

2
TopformsOP•

Snow, that's fair enough. Around here it gets cleared pretty quickly.

The black one is from 93, 3 years younger than me :-)

lightning_balls•

ha the trailer has a kickstand

2
TopformsOP•

Which is really really nice.

A full trailer makes the bike tip, if using kickstand on the bike. I don't have kick stands on my bikes, so I can park as in the picture.

It is standard size kickstand, so when it break i can buy a new one. Already replaced the rubber tip.

2
lightning_balls•

yea i thought about that after i commented. would be insanely frustrating to park without it lol. i saw your other comment about one of those bad boys costing liek 3500...shit it looks buildable for a fraction of that

2
TopformsOP•

It's 500 USD. I doubt you can build it for that. It's good quality. But yes, expensive

2
lightning_balls•

oohhhh i must've missed the different currency. yea i wouldnt be able to build anything near that nice for 500

2
idoescompooters•

Niiice. I too am keeping my classic with the downtube shifters even for commuting.

2
TopformsOP•

I prefer the look of classic steel frames over the new alu/carbon design

2
idoescompooters•

I'm totally with you on that one.

2
TopformsOP•

It is a pretty bold statement (no it's not :-D)

Good job man! After 4 years, this is my first year of making it everyday too. It's awesome!
