POTG 87 Rielly review
SKATING 9/10 Easily one of his best attributes. His skating is quick and smooth. He can beat people in footraces for the puck or just blown right by them. His agility is first class as well, he can move side to side, sharp turns with ease. Very good skating Dman.
SHOOTING 7/10 His shooting is nothing special, it definitely isnt bad though. His shot power is good and most of the time can hit the net as well. His wrist shot is pretty good for a Dman I've noticed. Dont buy this card if your looking for a sniper but, his shooting definitely wont be disappointing you.
HANDS 9/10 His hands like skating are 9/10 and well deserved. One of my favorite playmaking defenseman with smooth passing in all parts of the ice, whether its setting up a power play or passing in the neutral zone, Rielly can deliver. His deking is also very good, while hes not Patrick Kane, his stick handling is quick and controlled. He can move with his quick speed and agility and deke around you at the same time. His puck control while deking is good but isnt the strongest on the puck when moving around. He can probably keep it if a lower or mid tier player tried to take it but if a good checker or defensive player tried to get it they probably could.
CHECKING 6.75/10 Rielly is mediocre checking. He will get the job most of the time but dont think that he will be a Chara or Big Buff, he wont go around laying people out. Like I said in hands he is mediocre with staying on the puck, if you use his skating correctly you can avoid hits and poke checks to stay with the puck.
DEFENSE 7/10 He is middle of the pack on defense, not a penalty killer type but, definitely not a liability. His positioning is ok but, his poke checking and stick checking are above average.
OVERALL: Great player with speed and great hands. He is a good OFD and power play guy. He is fairly rare but, if you can get him for under 50K I would consider pulling the trigger.
