If my brother was still alive (a victim of police brutality)

Safe and sound and all you become is a memory

I know my brothers and sisters, they'll remember me

My fathers and mothers they'll defend me

All of a sudden he took my life I wasn't holding a gun

No I wasn't holding a knife In fact it was reverse

He swears by a proverb

When all he did was reverse

Reverse of his book

My life is what he took

A man who says he served and protected

A man of his kind would be respected

When all he did was destroy, he wrecked it

My life my future wife

My children

Unborn

My friends and family

All in devastation

They didn't even get a call from the police station

Two days had passed

I had missed calls

A message and a ring caused my sister to fall

To find out bullets were planted in my chest

Taking my mother and father down with her along with the rest

They came to my funeral and wished me the best

My casket stood there

Fear and pain

That's what traveled through her brain

A minor

A young woman

Someone who needed me by her side

I was one of the men in her life

My sister my childhood

My old best friend

Cried at the end of my grave

She was so brave

All I could wish is that I was standing right there

Telling her that I'm with her I swear

I'm by her side every minute of the day

I see her 5 times when she will sit and pray

On the daily reciting my name

At the end of her prayer asking to protect me in every way

Little did she know is that I heard every word

And I send out my spirit in that green humming bird

My life was taken with a trigger

But all I can see from up here is that all their hearts have become bigger

They have become frail from the empty void

But I know they wouldn't stop making noise

A cause for me was a cause for them

And because of me the thoughts have no end

An everlasting soul lives in the mind

And I know my family won't leave me behind

I'll live forever in their hearts

Till death do them part, I'll be there living in their heart

In reality I'm not dead

I'm merely living in their head
