Decent GPU to pair with a Phenom 2 X6 1035T

Hey there, i was looking at a buddies PC of mine (some off the shelf Acer) and as it looks i'd consider it a decent midrange Platform for what it is (chipset unknown, CPU PH2x6 1035T and 8gigs of DDR3) hes currently running on my HD6670 however he was thinking of upgrading

would a 7950 or simmilar be a nice fit for said platform?

Edit: might it be a smart idea to sell the 1035T for what ever we can get for it and maybe settle for a higher clocked Phenom 2 quadcore (like an x4 965for example)
