IF you could recast the leads to "LA LA Land," whom would be your dream team actors?
In a perfect world, we could all play Monday morning film director and recast a film. In that vain, I was wondering what r/movies thought about recasting the leads in this film. I'll start, how about Kerry Washington and say...Steven Yeun? How about Andre Holland and say...Gina Rodriguez? Or how about John Cho, Anthony Mackie, Michael B. Jordan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sterlin K. Brown opposite Maggie Q, Kristin Kreuk, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana We can do this any other of the big films of 2016!
The reason this all came up is because I was thinking about how, in a way, Casey Affleck being a front runner for the best actor Oscar is kinda out of nowhere considering how few of his films, he was the both, the lead and it was universally praised performance. Then it got me thinking who else could’ve played his role in “Manchester by the Sea” and Mark Ruffalo instantly came to mind. Turns out Mr. Mark Ruffalo was in the first film by “Manchester by the Sea” directorial debut Kenneth Longerman.
Here’s a direct copy and paste for Damien Chazelle bio because this post HAS to have 300 minimum word: Chazelle was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He is the son of Celia (Martin) Chazelle, a writer and professor of History at The College of New Jersey, and Bernard Chazelle, a French-born Yale-educated Eugene Higgins Professor of Computer science at Princeton University. Filmmaking was his earliest ambition, but he subsequently wanted to be a musician, and struggled to make it as a jazz drummer in high school at Princeton High School. Chazelle has said he had an intense music teacher, who was the inspiration for the character of Terence Fletcher in Chazelle's breakout film, Whiplash. Unlike the film's protagonist Andrew Neiman, however, Chazelle stated that he knew instinctively he never had the talent to be a great musician, and after high school, pursued filmmaking again, describing it as his first love.[2] He studied filmmaking in the Visual and Environmental Studies department at Harvard University and graduated in 2007.
