I've never played a soulsborne game in my life. Really interested in the series. Where do I even begin...

I've played all the final fantasies and kingdom hearts. This series however....there's a certain charm that I can't ignore...I must play it. Where do I begin? I value story and plot a lot as well in most rpgs/games. How's the storyline for this series or dark souls 3? Thanks guys!
