Can a windup mechanism release its locking gear electronically? (ie: without using an actuator)
Seems like the very definition of actuator is something that converts a signal and energy into motion, or to clamp something to stop motion.
I'm trying to figure out the absolute cheapest solution to engage/disengage the stored energy in a spring (windup mechanism) by using the other two things I have: a computer and power.
Can that be done without buying some kind of actuator?
