Let's talk spark plugs..

So I've been having some starting issues with my XV. When I go to start sometimes it'll crank for a few extra seconds before starting, and other times it'll start the day I bought her. I know it's not the starter because it cranks fast, it's not the battery or alternator because it doesn't stall or struggle while driving. Unless it's an electrical error (which I don't believe it is because I haven't received any warning lights) then it could only be the spark plugs.

Has anyone attempted to replace them themselves? I know they're in a horrible location behind some heat shields, and it takes a garage on average 3 hours to change them.
