Choosing a Player Color Stories/Preferences

Any interesting stories about people's player color preference for picking their meeples, player mats, etc.? We have played so much A Game of Thrones that one guy always calls the colors out by their house affiliations (red = Lannister, yellow = Baratheon, etc.). It never gets old.. to him at least. Anyone else have anything to share?
