Knowing about a murder before it happened?
When I was in third grade, there was a girl in fourth grade, let's say her name was Lee. This was a very small school K-12. All I knew about Lee was her name, and that she had a sister in 6th grade. Then, from what I remember they moved away. However, I saw Lee in a nearby small town at a movie theater, in the lobby. She was all dressed up like a princess, with a light blue flouncy dress on and a white coat - way overdressed for the occasion. She didn't notice me. She looked extremely unhappy. My guess was that she was there with her father, I don't know why I thought that. I don't know if I heard that her parents split up or what. But my assumption, for some reason, was that her father had her this weekend, made her get all dressed up, and took her to the movies. Like she was his date. I don't know, I just felt sorry for her. Anyway, I go on to fourth grade. The teacher was out for some reason. I guess we had a substitute and she was out of the room. I remember this girl saying they were all going to go across the street to the funeral home, to look at Lee, who had died. That she had lived in this other city, the one they had moved to (not the one where I saw her at the movies), and had been murdered. I said No, I didn't want to go. I pictured her lying in the coffin all dressed up in her flouncy blue dress. I thought they would probably dress her in something like that. I wondered why they brought her back to this town to have the funeral, but I thought maybe she had relatives in town.
So, for the last few years I started wondering how she was murdered, at only 10 or 11 years old. And this is decades later. I could not remember her last name or find out anything about her. Finally through ancestry.com (which I already had), I figured out her name, and found some news articles about her. She had not died when I was in fourth grade, but when I was in ninth grade, and she was 16. When I was in seventh grade, the old school was torn down and a new school was built. But I clearly remember this happening in the fourth grade room, thinking about her being murdered and in her coffin, and ever after that picturing her dying as a little girl. I have tried to picture being told this when I was 15 and in the other school, in every classroom, outside, in the cafeteria, etc. I do not remember it. I really don't remember even thinking about her after fourth grade, if I did, it was seeing her at the movie theater and then being told in fourth grade that she had been murdered.
I asked one of my friends who was in the fourth grade class with me if she remembered it. She said it was a very old lady who died, and they went across the street to look at her. My friend was not the one who asked me to go across the street. I have no idea why they would even want to do that, if it was an old lady they didn't know.
Does anyone have any ideas how this happened?
