(Bob's Burgers - No Spoilers) Keep hearing it more on Reddit? What type of shows do I watch such that BB fits my sense of humor? And which episode should you start on?
Personally, I feel like Bob's Burgers has been getting more love on Reddit this past year.
And it's no coincidence that the ratings this year have gone up -- more people are watching than ever. The first season is close to Parks and Rec quality. Second season gets better and by season 3 it's lift off with constant ascent.
But what is it? A Simpson's clone? A Family Guy clone? American Dad? Eek, Cleveland Show?
I'd say it's closest to very early Simpson's but more irreverent, quirky, but also doesn't shy away from acknowledging that they're a poor/lower-middle class family. Bob the patriarch is always slaving at the grill and he and his wife very rarely get breaks, and the kids help out with the work.
Below is an in-depth non-spoiler look at the show. If you want to skip it and watch the episode I recommend to friends, go to Netflix and watch the Millie-Churian Candidate (very much like a Community episode in terms of density of story). Yes, the puns are intentionally terrible. That episode is probably the best-told story in my opinion.
If you want the best single episode representation of all the characters, Eat, Pray, Linda is the best one to showcase each character.
I couldn't get into it after 2-3 episodes but once you get a feel for it, it gets running. I wouldn't recommend totally against starting in S1 but I'd score it a 65/100 compared to the 92-96 the episodes range now.
There was something off putting about the show, and i think it's because the way the voices are done, they're like actual live action sitcoms with people sometimes talking over each other, using realistic inflection, etc. in other words it doesn't feel like a voice actor saying lines and then they sync the best lines up, it really seems like they're all they're together talking.
