Husband (25M) and me (25F) and our finances. Don't know how to bring up something that is bothering me.

Relationships

My husband and I have been married for little more than a year.

Our finances are together, but he makes little more than half what I do. He has also made himself in charge of our finances, which I really don't have a problem with.

My issue is this: I feel that I'm in unequal grounds with him. Something happened today that is bothering me, but I don't know whether or not to bring it up with him because I don't know if I should be feeling that in the first place.

I woke up today to see that $500 had been transferred out of our bank account. I immediately texted him and he told me it was a loan to his aunt and that it would get paid back in a couple of weeks. Okay.

I'm not opposed to helping out people. My issue is that he did so without even talking to me about it. Last time I spent $50 on something (I totally forget what it was, maybe I spent it on my parents, I don't remember), I got this lecture on how it was fine if I spent money, he just needed to know about it before.

Every time I use my credit cards without asking him, I get a lecture on how I need to use the debit card instead so he can keep track on what is being spent, but he uses his own credit cards whenever he wants.

I get it. I make a lot less than he does. But he says everything he makes is mine as well. That it's not "you or me", it's "us."

Apparently, when my husband sent the $500, his boss gave him his bonus (funnily enough, it's $500) but I don't think it makes it any better.

I feel so slighted because I just know that if I had done the same thing- that if I had sent $500 to anyone (including my parents) without even asking him, I would get this HUGE lecture.

I get it. I make less than he does. I have less disposable income. We agreed we would send our parents $250 each month. He sends it to his mom every month, I pay $100 for my mom's storage and I don't even want to bring up the $150 that is missing because I'm afraid I'll get another lecture on how tight we are with money.

His background is in finance and business, so it makes sense he would be in charge of it, but I just think that huge things like this should be at least discussed, because I know if I had done the same exact thing, he would have a huge issue with it.

He's always telling me how we have to save, and how we don't have enough money in the bank, and that we can't afford a lot of things.

I don't know.

Should I bring this up to him or just let it go?

tldr; husband loaned money to his aunt without telling me first, and I know if I had done the same, he would have a huge issue with it. Don't know whether to just ignore it or actually tell him about it.
