Do Sports Cars Have a Future?

I've seen three articles talking about the upcoming "death" of the sports car.

http://fortune.com/2014/11/26/sports-cars/ http://www.businessinsider.com/afp-do-sports-cars-have-a-future-in-a-driverless-world-2015-1 https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-06/the-sports-car-is-in-serious-trouble

Is their validity to their claims? Many think that driverless cars will do them in, yet all of the autonomous concepts companies are releasing (except for Ford, but their only plans were for a ride-hailing vehicle so that makes sense), have manual controls. Some even encourage having the option to take over! So why would this stop sports cars if driving itself isn't dying - it's simply optional (especially when the people who buy sports cars buy them to drive them)?
