What happens to the film after the cinema is finished with it?

I didn't know what sub to put this in so I went with this one.

So, where does the film go when the cinema is finished playing it?

Does it go back to the production company or something? Then where does it go?

Do they destroy it?

Do they just put it in the back room?

Do they give it away to the staff? Or sell it to the public? Or sell it to some cinema in some other country that hasn't played it yet?
