Showing girl star wars for first time. Should I start with Rogue One? [Spoiler]

I know the proper agreed order is:

  1. New Hope

  2. Empire

  3. Prequels

  4. Jedi

I was wondering if opening with Rogue One would be a good idea because it:

  • Sets up beginning of New Hope

  • Introduces Vader in a better(?) manner

  • Introduces Rebels better; makes them seem more cladestine, desperate and out-classed

  • Gives more depth and ruthlessness to GM Tarkin's character (as well as the empire in general)

  • Illustrates the universe treating jedi/force as a folklore/taboo thing

  • Amplifies the tension created by the death star's presence because you are acquainted with it already. Surprises viewer when death star is "full operational" the entire time. Since big players in OT don't know about it until they warp into it, validates the secrecy behind the project

  • All the main characters die. Better demonstrates the grit of the universe that isnt present in the OT.

  • References to OT (ie Ponda on Jedhu) makes the universe feel more connected and accessible. This also supports the empire's long-reach and grip on the universe.

  • Shifts "hope" from being the plans to including Luke (and the Jedi) at the end of the film

Downside:

  • Makes OT look cheesier bc of aged special effects

  • Upsets focal point of the OT

  • Reveals Vader as being "broken" right from the get-go instead of later in the trilogy. This can be good, but i think its a bad give-away
