PSA: Understand the importance of "Thank you"

I work under the Senior admin at an MSP, who is constantly hit hard by incompetent management, clients that are annoying to deal with, and the mountain of server-related NOC tickets he has to sift through daily.

I do my best not to annoy him when he's busy, but it's gotten worse really. One of the Emergency Rooms we manage recently hired another IT department, who demoted several terminal servers which were publishing a critical patient chart manager app and caused a ton of headaches for both the physicians and the admin.

As we finally created a workaround, I volunteered to call all the sites to ask them to try logging in again. They all logged in fine and hung up immediately afterwards but the last call was to a receptionist who was extremely ecstatic and thankful. I gave the phone to the admin so he could hear the thank you, and the receptionist even gave the phone to the others to say thanks as well.

The admin put on the goofiest smile I've ever seen in my half year of working with him.

Remember guys, understand that a "thank you" can mean a lot to a person, especially if he/she had a really bad day. Everyone has super powers. It reminds me of my favorite webcomic.

EDIT: Surprised at how big this got. I'd love to see a Mod thread where we can post heartwarming stories from everyone here, kinda like the r/talesfromtechsupport stories where nice things happen.
