(WARNING: POOP) Today was a shitty day, literally.
Today didn't exactly go as planned. Somehow, I slept through my alarm and slept in until 11am.. when I went to change my son's diaper, I realized he hasn't eaten very much or pooped in about 2 days. For most kids, not pooping isn't a huge deal - I see a lot of people say, "a little bit of apple juice helped!" Well, for Owen, not pooping every day is a huge deal.
He's on a daily medication (Senna) to help him have normal bowel movements (again, because of his medical condition) and sometimes he STILL gets constipation and has to have an enema every once in a while. So I had to give him an enema and it was just.. traumatic in every way possible.
First of all, he refused to eat breakfast/lunch - probably because his belly was uncomfortably full of poop. So we had to administer it on an empty stomach which usually makes him nauseas and vomit.
It turns out that he had a HUGE obstruction which the enema broke up (for the most part) but pieces were getting stuck and I had to use a q-tip to help break them up and get them out. He ended up getting MASSIVE amounts of poop chunks and enema water all over the bathroom and walls and he even threw up he was in so much discomfort. I had to move him to the tub because of how much trouble he was having and after seeing everything that came out of him.. oh my god, poor little guy.
He sat under the warm, running shower to relax while I bleached everything from waist height down in the bathroom. It was almost 2pm by the time everything was sad and done and I had to tote around a kid who wasn't feeling well on a few errands. :(
I just needed to get it out into the world, it was like icing on the cake to my less than spectacular week.
