Cooking dry great northern beans in a slowcooker... do I still need to soak them if ill be cooking on low for 8hrs?

Trying to make barbecue beans. Can i just throw it all in for the 8 hours, dry and all?

Secondly anyone have any favorite recipes for this particular dish? Seen a lot of variation.
