Moved out of parents home, renting a room with a friend paying cash, what are some things I need to be aware of or worry about?

Hello PF. I just recently moved out of my parents home and into a house purchased by my friend's parents. We pay his dad cash each month for rent but my roommate has the utilities in his name. I have concerns about changing my permanent address to the new location if I don't have any real proof I live there or not. I have my own health insurance provided through work. My car insurance is paid for myself as well but I'm on my parents plan since coverage is super expensive for younger drivers in my area (Metro Detroit, Michigan). Should I still do a change of address with the Secretary of State? What kind of options do I have?
