How do I get over the pain caused by my Bipolar boyfriend cheating on me with prostitutes?

Hello, I'm new to this - both being a BP SO and this forum. Apologies now for any inadvertently insensitive language etc. I have no prior experience or knowledge of this matter. I am looking for advice and... I don't know what really... I am just devastated that my bipolar (presumably though no conclusive diagnosis as yet - one hospitalisation 5 years ago and one manic phase/breakdown? only a few weeks ago) boyfriend of 2 years has cheated on me with 3 prostitutes and probably others that he cannot admit to. He has told me that he misses me (we are in a long distance relationship) and i understand the issue, but I miss him so much too and I would never cheat, I could never do that to him. I have never been cheated on before, I was always fearful of it, and I haven't slept or eaten properly for a week. I loved him so much, I don't know why someone would do this. I've only ever cared for him and I thought our relationship was really good - we speak and text all the time, we were in touch every 5 mins, very communicative. I am now confused, angry and upset. He's admitted that during a previous episode where he was eventually hospitalised, that he had unsafe sex etc, and now I am terrified that I have caught HIV or other diseases from him. I am unprepared for this sort of thing. I stupidly trusted him. He wasn't on meds before and only referred to this last episode from 5 years ago as if it was ancient history. I really was never worried at all. If I knew then what I knew now! Would really appreciate some help with this, nobody around me seems to know or experience much to do with bipolar. Everybody is outraged, appalled and upset that he's cheated on me - I have had to edit out the prostitute bit for some of my loved ones, it's just too much for some of them. The ones who know, they are just saying "'run', get out of this NOW!", "he has treated you so badly, it won't change", "you will ruin your life if you try to stay and help him". It's as far from the life I wanted with him as I could ever imagine and I'm feeling worthless and depressed. I have spent all my energy trying to protect him from my emotions because I know he is at risk of going depressive and with all that entails. And I am so sorry for his family who are trying to look after him and so worried. I spend the nights just reading article upon article on bipolar, trying to understand, but at the core of me, I'm just disgusted and deeply hurt. I have spent so much time talking to him and trying to understand what happened. He was always drinking too much anyway, but it was obviously a mix of drugs and drink this time, as it was last time, and then the hypersexuality (he only heard about this symptom from me, after I read up, nobody has broached this topic with him, which I find incredibly odd) that has ruined what we had. It's clear that he is suffering, and he has a huge amount of shame to deal with. I recognise that he showed bravery in telling the truth about cheating, even when his dad and psychiatrist told him it wasn't a good idea to reveal it to me. I am grateful to him for that, because it's the worst thing, wasting other's time. In some ways, we've have helpful talks since. But every day, the story of the cheating gains a little more embelishment and new lies rise to the top. I just can't take any more now. And beyond this, little things keep cropping up in these talks, he is still wanting to be sexual in our facetime conversations (insensitively so bearing in mind he has cheated on me). He also referred to one of the prostitutes as a slut this morning - I am uncomfortable with the idea that he can just objectify women like this. I've been really open minded about all this stuff, and I am aware of the feminist angle - the supposed agency of sex workers etc etc, but it is kind of horrific, and particularly in this instance. I can't see anyone in this little scenario being in any way 'empowered', neither him, the prostitute or myself. The whole thing IS sad and pathetic, seedy and gross. I feel like the BP is a free pass for what would ordinarily be called out as abusive behaviour.

This morning he also said to me that he did it because 'you wanted to get hurt'. I assured him I didn't. I really have not done anything to deserve this awful treatment. So why is he blaming me for his actions? For me, it is a betrayal that feels insurmountable but is also such a waste as we were otherwise very good together. Everyone in his family loves me, mine feel the same way about him. Everyone's gutted by this. And I really and truly loved him. I saw a future with him which I would have fought tooth and claw for. I've been protective of him and still am, even now. But, I am just down and have no energy for the things in my life and work. It's like the lights went off around and I can't see anything good anymore. I think maybe I'm in physical shock as I haven't been able to feel pain in my body (i injured my hand but it didn't hurt, my usually unbearable period pain from endometriosis didn't need the pain relief I have to rely on every month. And I can't eat or sleep, I'm just worried about him all the time. I don't think he'll ever know how much I loved him, and maybe he is incapable of connecting with that feeling. I am so angry that his problems (unacknowledged alcoholism, grief at losing his mother while he was little, not dealing with his BP, dodgy druggy friends) could have been addressed, (and with support from me), now translate to problems for me that are very damaging (lack of trust, feeling worthless, scared for my health). I need some help with this and don't know where to start. I am feeling very fragile and would give anything to be the person I was before he told me about all of his 'indiscretions'. Thanking you in advance.
