The team punishment system needs to stop.

News & Discussion

As a new player i was infatuated by Blizzards attempt at competitive gaming, and the encouragement of team play in the games premiere competitive mode. This mode is far from perfect however, and although i understand the games heavy emphasis on team play; i believe that not everyone in a match should be entitled to the same SR score loss as there are many players (such as my self) who find themselves being matched up with players who don't actually try to team play, and go rogue. I have seen many players in the competitive scene picking impractical, or near useless hero's for the maps we play. I fully support people having the freedom of choice with hero selection, however i believe it would be in the communities best interest that players who put sweat, and blood into winning should at least have their SR score loss be a little cushioned in comparison to those who fail to choose a hero they play well, or pose a threat at all with.

[The following is simply an idea to combat this issue and is probably not the best way to enforce this so don't take it too seriously]

What if perhaps players at the end of a match could gain small amounts of SR from medals? what if playing your best, and trying your hardest to acquire these meant more than just bragging rights? I personally believe this would be a great way to solve this problem as it will cushion a failure for those that tried really hard (say instead of losing -20 SR, lose something around 12, or so for getting 5 gold medals), and to make winning all the more satisfying after a hard fought victory ( instead of the common + 10SR for winning, get about 14 or so). Again keep in mind this is simply an idea, my main focus is to divert peoples attention to this issue, one i feel is very aggravating. For people like me with a 50% match win rate achieving higher ranks is impossible, not due to my skill i believe but due too my teams and i'm sure others may feel the same.
