In nwn2, does the level 1 monk ac bonus still apply with armor?

Let's say i did 1 level monk, 19 paladin, would the base ac bonus still apply if i wore heavy armor? basically, i'm wondering if it's just the bonus ac that you get from leveling that you lose and not the base.
