Buy back tokens are a little bit cheap as far as ideas go?
I've been waiting for my buy back token for a little bit now. It's just occurred to me (as I've had a while to think about it) that they're kind of a bad idea in the first place. I don't see any reason they should exist other than for one of two reasons. One is kind of understandable the other I am against. 1: Buy back tokens exist because if people were changing their ships willy nilly it would use up server space or cost CIG in some way (This is understandable. If this is the reason I'm ok with it.
2: Buy back tokens promote spending more real world money on the game to get your pledge back. This I am against. We've already in good faith given money to the cause and probably will again when something takes our fancy. If this is the reason it kind of makes me feel it's unfair. We should be allowed to move assets within the game and until the beta, try out as many ships as we please before settling. If we want to try something, then melt it, then decide we liked it more than what we traded up to, why should there be a waiting window to get back the ship?
I hope it's something to do with the former not the latter. I would feel a little less good about CIG being the latter. People are spending enough and will continue to as long as the game is in development. No need to push for more cash, It will come anyhow. Look what we're achieving so far!
Just thought i'd start a discussion. Because I'm super bored waiting for this token.
