[Spoilers E79] Scanlan's Magnificent Chicken Bake - Recipe
In the hours counting down until Critical Role's return, I thought I'd share the themed dish I'll be cooking tonight in honour of the great battle occurring and Vox Machina themselves! Of course, it had to be a chicken dish. It's always a chicken dish.
Scanlan's Magnificent Chicken Bake
Ingredients:
Four, boneless chicken breasts
Two roma or beefsteak tomatoes
Basil Pesto
Mozzarella
Your choice of hot sauce
Step one
Don't worry. You don't need to culinary training to pass these skill checks. First, grease a baking pan and pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 celsius)
Lay the chicken out and dole out a liberal spread of basil pesto on each breast. Make sure all of them are evenly covered!
The Fire Plane
Take the tomatoes and cut them into thick slices. Array them overtop of the chicken breasts evenly, and take your choice of hot sauce, and splash all across the tomatoes. I prefer a milder sauce, like Franks, as we don't want it to be overpoweringly spicy, but it's up to you!
Sarenrae's Divine Mozza Intervention
Shred the mozza, and spread a layer thickly over the tomatoes and chicken. Make sure to get some into all the nooks. I don't recommend substituting mozza for other cheeses, as they won't get crispy in the way we want them too.
Thordak's Fire Breath
Toss the whole thing into the oven and let its hitpoints drain for 40 minutes on 400.
And you're done! take it out, carve up slices, and share it with your favourite critters! So excited for tonight's episode and I just thought I'd share something I cooked up (huehuehue) for this evening. It's in the oven right now and I'll post pictures later!
Bonus round
If you're an of-age critter, and want a cocktail to go with your meal, here's something simple
Dragon Showdown
Simple. Cocktail glass, as much ice as you prefer, and half ginger ale (green dragon) with half mixing whiskey (bronze dragon).
Nice and light, but surprisingly dangerous. Consume responsibly or you're going to have disadvantage on checks against falling prone very quickly.
