Bootloop Of Death - Successful Huawei RMA
Here, read a happy story amidst all the reports of bricked phones and unsuccessful RMAs.
tldr: bootloop of death. tried best buy, nope. tried google, nope. huawei accepted rma request. got replacement phone within 1 week of shipping broken phone to Huawei. i'm a happy lil boy.
A little before Christmas, my phone went into the bootloop of death. I'm not very experienced in tinkering with androids. But, I tried anything I could, to no avail. So I went to Best Buy, where I bought the phone from. They couldn't do anything. I contacted Google. They couldn't do anything. I contacted Huawei, they accepted my warranty claim and I sent them my phone. While my phone was at the Huawei repair facility, I got an email from a Google rep stating they might be able to make an exception regarding my RMA. But, at that point, it was too late. So I waited. I waited for 7 days until Huawei sent me an email stating they approved an RMA. They sent out a replacement unit via UPS Next Day Air. I got the phone this morning. It's most likely a refurb b/c the manufacture date is 12/22/15. But I don't care, I'm just glad I don't have to shell out $300 for a new phone.
My phone had a few dents in the corners and a few scratches on the back panel. It was not bent. I'm not sure if Huawei will accept RMA on bent phones. The replacement they sent is in like new condition. I honestly can't tell if it's a refurb b/c it looks so clean, and I'm a guy who obsesses over micro abrasions.
