Company superiors who ignore my suggestions
TL;DR Management is too full of themselves to listen to suggestions, then comes down on us for NOT listening to our recommendations.
.
For the first 2 years our warehouse was a complete mess. Stacking everything on the floor instead of buying shelving, workers and managers moving items then not putting them back where they were, and most of all the office cronnies borrowing markers, tape measures, and step stools and never seeing them again. Then the warehouse workers get blamed for missing supplies which is assumed stolen.
To make things worse we began running out of floor space, and upper management has been considering moving to a larger warehouse. Before we relocate I, personally, insist that we get shelving in our warehouse. So our company buys 2 (6ft x 2 ft x 8ft) storage racks, and free up a total of 300 square feet. So...
my manager gets a $1000/month raise for saving the company thousands by holding off on relocating for another few years.
But the warehouse is more organized, less dangerous, and I'm kinda happy, except for the corner of the warehouse where we store:
- Slow selling items
- Trade show supplies
- Bosses crap that he can't keep at home
- and a lot of samples that management brings in, currently totaling about 50 unmarked boxes that all look completely the same
I call this corner Crap Mountain.
I tell upper management that, "We need to spend a few hours where the trade show sales team and the boss come down and tell us what to get rid of, and what we can keep." After the third time asking I realize they are too lazy and important to take the time to come out and say "Trash...donate...keep" Etc. so that we can properly store things in an organized fashion.
Which comes to today's big complaint...We have 5 product demo kits that sell for $150/Ea that have been engulfed into Crap Mountain. Management is pissed that this mountain exists, and has consistently been hurting productivity, BUT NOBODY WANTS TO HANDLE IT except me and a maybe 2 other workers, but we do not have the authority to make decisions about the Crap Mountain
^(I'm about 1 week from putting Crap Mountain in the parking lot)
