2008 Honda Accord Engine Seems Weak

Hey all, I bought a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe EX (V4) a while back and I've noticed that my car's having difficulty when trying to speed up. For example, the RPM shoots up to 5-6 when I try merging into the freeway ramp even though I'm going at 40-50mph and trying to get up to 65-70mph. Same thing happens whenever I try speeding up. My friend has a 2009 Toyota Camry (I know it's a year less but it's close) but his car has more ease when speeding up than mine does. Any ideas on what's going on?
