Torn between 2 jobs, was offered one, but I really want the other. Need advice.

I'll try and explain the situation as simply as I can.

I live in Wisconsin.

I had an interview with a job in Virginia sometime before the holidays (roughly a month ago). It's a VR simulation job and I offered to do an art test for them. They seemed surprised that I'd offer that. So over the holidays I spent a good 35 hours on this test (I even took 3 days off work just to art it up more). I haven't heard a word from them in the meantime because of the holidays. I finally hear from them last Friday (When I turned in the art test) that the office is closed until the 3rd (last Tuesday) and he'll look at it then. I haven't heard from them at all this week yet. This is the job I want

On the other side, today I got a call from a different job in Maryland. They want me to call them back tomorrow for an offer. This would be a job that I'd definitely take if the Virginia job don't want me. I want the Virginia job more because it's more tailored to my degree, and pays a little more.

Should I call the Virginia job and ask them where they're at in the hiring process? It's been more than 3 weeks since the 1st interview. And I have been in contact with them slightly over the last 2 weeks because of the holidays. If i get an offer tomorrow in Maryland I'm probably going to ask them to let me think about it over the weekend.

If anyone has been in a situation simular to this I'd greatly appreciate some advice regarding this.
