(Spoilers) Let's have a deeper conversation about Weiner, for those who saw it.

Spoiler

Anthony Weiner : "I still have this virtually unlimited ability to fuck up things day by day."

Josh Kriegman : " Why have you let me film this?"

Anthony Weiner : "..."

So was the last exchange of this fascinating documentary that, through a frame of Anthony Weiner's life as he was running for the mayor of New York city, examins the many facets of this deeply flawed, yet galvanizing human being.

You might have heard of his scandals on the news on countless occasions, yet this snapshot of his life, documented in detail, tells you more about him, the good and the bad. What's equally thrilling about this must see documentary is the fact that its subject seems to be just as surprised and fascinated by what he does, so much so that he decided to give Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg, writer-directors of the documentary, what appears to be almost full access to his personal life, and in doing so he allows the public to examin him like a colorful piece of pottery: despite the cracks and the imperfactions, there is something about it that is equally fascinating and stunning.

The film gives an equally stirring portrait of Huma Abadin, Weiner's spouse, who has to deal with him and navigate through the many scandals her husband has put her through. Through the 90 minutes of its running time, the movie gives a deeply though provoking insight into how a public figure, thorn apart by his sex scandals and ravaged by the public eye, fights to keep to pieces together, without doing the most important thing to start with: stop himself from ever doing it again.

I have to admit, it's easy to hate this guy, and let me be clear, he gives you more reasons than not to hate him. I however found myself strangely appreciating the fact that he allowed himself to be the punch bag, intentionnaly or not, and hope that people will get more out of this documentary than just entertainement and laughter at the expense of a deeply flawed man that appears from afar completly imbecile in his behavior, but really is not.

I'd love to hear what you guys took from it.
