I owe $1,600 to my bank because my boss reported my check as fraud. How do I resolve this with the bank.

So long story short, I had been fighting with my boss the last month to finally give me my last paycheck since I left (I left in bad terms and I had made another reddit post about he does illegal and unethical practices and I refused to be part of it so he let me go). He finally agreed to pay me, wrote me a check and as soon as it cleared and I was able to paid off my credit cards, the check was returned to the original holder. Now im negative $1,600 on my bank. I just know this is one of my boss shady tricks to get out of paying people. And of course now he's in Colombia and Idk when he gets back or how to get a hold of him.

Is there a way I can explain the situation and possible cut a deal with the bank or put me on a payment plan and freeze my account? Im unemployed and now Im stuck owing money that should've been mine to begin with.

This thread has helped me so much the past two years and i finally got my credit in a good place and now im scared this is going to completely ruin it if i dont resolve it :///
