No Awards = No Chance?
Greetings r/GetIntoStanford
For those of you that resent a long post, you can just skip to the question at the bottom.
I am an international student, studying in North Africa. Over the years, I have worked quite hard in school, gotten good grades, good test scores, while also doing my best to explore my passion in my ECs. However, one part of the application still eludes me, and that is, as the title indicates, Awards/Honors.
In my country, I have tried my hardest to find competitions to join, but unfortunately, could not find anything. For instance, all math and science olympiads require you to be a senior in order to apply, much less participate. There is but a single major science fair in the entire country, and entering requires you to follow an obscure process within your school, which I cannot do, as I attend an international school.
I have obtained some small awards (MUN Best Delegate, Top of Class, Academic Excellence), but nothing truly major. In fact, our school even stopped administering math competitions altogether. This coming year, I will try my best to enter some other competitions in relation to entrepreneurship and science, which are my two primary passions.
But in the case that I do not win any awards, will this fact significantly reduce my chances of acceptance at Stanford, despite having stellar grades, scores, ECs and (hopefully) essays?
