Looking for easy way to get NVENC or VAAPI for FFMPEG? Try this.

You can now use NVENC or VAAPI hardware acceleration in FFMPEG without compiling it. Try static build (should work for all Linux distro).

Static build of FFMPEG is safe to use. Also it is linking from official ffmpeg site, look at bottom, below "Linux Packages": https://ffmpeg.org/download.html

Or grab it directly from here: https://www.johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/

I suggest to use latest git static build instead stable build (they can have more features).

How use it:

Download, unpack and run in terminal in main dir ./ffmpeg

For check if nvenc is supported run: ./ffmpeg -h encoder=h264_nvenc

for check if vaapi is supported run: ./ffmpeg -h encoder=h264_vaapi

You can use it directly or via custom app (like SSR or OBS? - not tested yet). You can also swap by this static build, your system ffmpeg but this can be not safe, but is possible.
